About MAC

Merchant Acquirers’ Committee (MAC) is a professional, nonprofit trade association in the payment processing ecosystem.  MAC is widely recognized as the premier educational organization for risk, underwriting, and compliance in payment processing.  We represent approximately 400 organizations and more than 1,700 professionals with a shared interest in preserving the integrity of the payment ecosystem. 

MAC is a community of risk, underwriting, compliance, and law enforcement professionals who support the payment ecosystem. We operate under the pillars of risk mitigation and protection, security, community, and education. We empower our members through training and education, networking, and information sharing. 

Today, MAC produces and supports several industry educational events.  From premier industry events, such as Level Up, to regional meetings and monthly webinars, MAC provides a range of education and training designed for all expertise levels.

In addition to event-based education, MAC also supports a robust community network that produces a growing collection of resources to help our members manage risk, prevent fraud and stay secure.  MAC members collaborate to help limit or stop crimes that attempt to utilize, exploit, or compromise the payment ecosystem.

As a volunteer-driven organization, members have many opportunities to learn and grow their skills.  We actively recruit volunteer leaders and contributors and create new ways to make volunteer experiences more meaningful and frictionless.  One of the best ways to grow your network and gain recognition as a current or future industry leader is to volunteer in MAC. 

MAC member benefits include education and professional development opportunities for all those engaged in managing risk or preventing fraud in the payment ecosystem.  We support responsive networks for those who have questions or need to learn about compliance standards and fraud prevention strategies.  We provide our members with critical industry information and timely developments through  MAC Dispatch, MAC Monitor, MAC Alerts, topical newsletters, and other industry resources. 

MAC has one of the lowest dues rates of any professional trade association.  Many members have stories about how MAC contributed to saving tens of thousands of dollars for their organizations through their MAC membership investment. 

We continue to expand our educational outreach through collaboration with law enforcement, researchers, and other organizations to support the identification and prevention of a broader range of crimes, such as child endangerment, human trafficking, illegal pharmaceutical sales, and green crimes.
