Introducing APP - The Association of Payment Professionals

Posted By: Mark Nelson APP Dispatch, APP Updates,

Payment professionals need a community where they feel safe to speak openly, share issues, and provide insight. For more than 25 years, the Merchant Acquirers’ Committee (MAC) has been that community to help our members manage risk, improve compliance, prevent fraud, and stay secure. We are excited to announce that effective April 7, MAC will have a new name to reflect our evolution from a grassroots organization to a unified risk community:  the Association of Payment Professionals (APP).

April will bring other exciting news as we take this opportunity to launch new initiatives based on input from members on surveys and through our website.  For example, in April:

APP will launch Phase 1 of M@Cademy, an asynchronous, online educational experience designed by members for members to address member needs for education in the areas of payment risk, compliance, and fraud prevention.

A new Strategic Interest Group on Fraud (Fraud SIG) will formally join existing SIGs focused on Banking (Bank Consortium) and Government Relations.

The Bank Consortium’s MAC PACK (Payments Acceptance Compendium Kit) – Tools for Any Payments Conversation will be available for the first time.

Of course, the existing programs and services that our members value most will remain, such as Level Up, our monthly webinars, three fall regional events, the APP Dispatch, the Government Relations Newsletter, and, of course, APP Alerts.  This is an exciting time to be a payments professional and the perfect time to get more engaged with the Association of Payment Professionals.

We understand you may have questions, and you can expect that our volunteers, partners, and staff are committed to our mission of safeguarding the integrity of the payment ecosystem through education, collaboration, and leadership.  This change does mean that our website URL, emails, and domains will be changing and we will send an additional message in early April with those details.

We will host a community webinar on April 6 to discuss many of these developments and answer questions you may have.  If you would like to reach out before then, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@macmember.org.

Thank you for your continued membership.

Kind regards,

APP Board of Directors
